Accessing Christ

Each of us humbly bowed and breathlessly waited for the touch of the Captain's sword on our heads.  The touch that would bring healing to all our wounds of battle.

Finally I saw his feet, stained with blood before me.  His sword came to rest lightly upon my head.  Warmth flooded through my body and I fell forward kissing His feet.  I felt strength flowing down throughout my tired aching body, and I felt young again.  Strong hands lifted me to my feet and wiped the tears of joy from my eyes.

"Michael, you have fought a good fight.  Go and rest for tomorrow we again go to battle."  And He was gone.

The sounds of "I love you" lingered in my mind as I turned and walked to my tent.  Yes, tomorrow would be a great day indeed!

"When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a  public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him."                                        (Col 2:15)

Not only does Christ deliver us out of the hands of the evil one, but He is also able to rescue us from trials (2 Pet 2:9).  When we ask according to His will, He will deliver us from those environments that would test us in overwhelming ways.  We can always be confident that there is a "stronger man" Who is near to us and Who will take away all the armour that is arrayed against us (Lk 11:21-22).  "All authority has been given to [Him] in heaven and on earth" (Mt 28:18).  Therefore, we can be totally confident as we go out and make disciples of all nations, and enlist them to our army, that our deliverer and captain is close at hand and is watching over us.

Our deliverer and healer is at the right hand of God interceding for us (Rom 8:34).  "He is able to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them" (Heb 7:25).  Christ will make sure that what He has begun in us He will bring to completion.  He poured out His life blood for each one of us and, in light of such a great sacrifice, we can be assured that He will perfect each one of us, so that one day He will be able to take us as His bride and live with us in eternity.
